A lie on the throne is a lie still, and truth in a dungeon is truth still.

I feel like crapola today. I'd been fighting something for the past couple of days that was stomach flu-ish. My big sign something's up involves a craving for cranberry juice.

Figures. It's a beautiful day out. Not that it matters because if I were feeling okay, I'd be at work. *bleh*

Apologies to people who've been waiting for more Living History, but I've been working on Ishmael Sings of the White Whale for the Faith-fic-a-thon. I have two or three parts left and they're kicking my ass in not a good way. If I didn't have a deadline, I'd let it sit for about a week and concentrate on Living History instead. But deadline looms on Satruday and since I stupidly agreed to work for Borders on Saturday *huff* I want to try to get it up Friday night. Otherwise, it'll be going up late Saturday night.

Still, this part's been done for awhile. It's just I'm still polishing up the part that's after this. So there'll probably be a little bit of a wait.

Quick last seen recap: When last we left our heroes...

  • Magic-whammied Willow was causing mayhem and poised to give Faith and Xander a helping hand into the hearafter
  • Catherine and Co. were trying to come up with a way to prevent the Grail from causing more problems
  • Dawn and Andrew elected to stay with the marginally saner Catherine and Co.
  • Charlie decided to catch up with Willow and Faith in a vain effort to prevent more information about the future from leaking into the wrong ears
  • Buffy just hit on her brilliant idea to defeat the Dirt Monsters of Eerie Cemetery

Part 56: Command DecisionsCollapse )

Gawd...I spent the entire day wanting to do the Technicolor Yawn. So I've crawled to my computer but I have zero energy to do more than stare listlessly at my FList page.

I'm heading back to bed.

Oh, gaakked from, well, everyone:

Better Personality Quiz

You are a WRCL--Wacky Rational Constructive Leader. This makes you a golden god. People gravitate to you, and you make them feel good. You are smart, charismatic, and interesting. You may be too sensitive to others reactions, especially criticism. Your self-opinion and mood depends greatly on those around you.

You think fast and have a smart mouth, is a hoot to your friends and razorwire to your enemies. You hold a grudge like a brass ring. You crackle.

Although you have a leader's personality, you often choose not to lead, as leaders stray too far from their audience. You probably weren't very popular in high school--the joke's on them!

You may be a rock star.

Cool! Wish I had the energy to be excited about being a rock star....

Also gakked from around:

Don't forget your "refund" of extra time from paidmembers because LJ has been wiggy. You've got seven days to claim your prize. Read all about it here

hyperion_lobby is looking for people to list as part of a regular fanfic listing. Looks like they're trying to be a central clearing house on Buffy/Angel fanfiction on LJ. Not sure of the rules (i.e., cross universes or such). You can give them permission to link to your journal here

Even thought I'm too sick to get properly pissed about it, I remember my mother telling me this story:

Back in the early 70s, my mother's physician suggested she get her tubes tied for health reasons and refered her to a surgeon. Said surgeon refused to tie her tubes because "it was against Catholic teaching," but said he'd give her a hysterectomy because that was okay. (A woman in her early 30s!) My mother hit the roof, my father hit the roof, her doctor hit the roof. They found another doctor who'd do it, she went to the not-Catholic hospital to get it done. They prepped her and were about to wheel her in (she's half-drugged by this point) and realized that they FORGOT TO GET MY DAD'S PERMISSION. So they held off until they found him (he'd gone to get coffee), which meant a half-hour delay. Almost 30 years later, my mother AND my father still rant about the absolute stupidity of needing "his" permission for "her" to get a surgical proceedure done. Even though this was medically necessary, because my mom's ovaries were involved people got really wiggy about it.

Can we please let the women have control over their ovaries? Thank you. Jebezus people. Read your fucking history. Birth control and abortion (up until "quickening") were perfectly legal when the Puritans ran the Massachusetts Bay Colony back in the fucking 1600s. It wasn't encouraged, but no one said boo about it. These were religious-fucking-fanatics. Puritans. I think that says everything right there.

Ooooo, maybe I'm feeling well enough for a little outrage.
